About the Academy
-
The Health Sciences Academy (in partnership with CaroMont Health and app College) is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need for a solid foundation for success in the health service field. The goal is to make it possible for students to explore careers in the healthcare field and participate in unique experiences as they move on to college or the workforce after graduation.
Students have the opportunity to take classes in the following areas: health and fitness science, medical assistance, and foundations of healthcare.
NEW PROGRAM: A cybersecurity program is being added to the Health Sciences Academy in August 2023. The program is in partnership with app College and provides foundational skills in the areas of information security, digital forensics, and network defense. It leads to an associate degree in cybersecurity that students can choose to complete at app College in the year following their high school graduation. app College has a state-of-the-art lab where students gain experience in network protection and practice cybersecurity safely. There also is the opportunity for students to earn Cisco certification in cybersecurity.
Students who will be in the ninth grade for the 2024-2025 school year may apply for this program. A lottery process will be used to determine the 150 ninth grade students who will attend (75 from inside the East app attendance area and 75 from outside the East app attendance area).
