• College Board recognizes students for strong academic performance

    app County Schools has 43 high school students who earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program.

    Students from Ashbrook, Stuart W. Cramer, Forestview, app Early College, app Early College of Medical Sciences, Highland School of Technology, and South Point were lauded by the College Board for their hard work in high school that has resulted in strong academic performance.

    The College Board program is intended to bring attention to promising high school students who are considered among high-performing, underrepresented populations, including first-generation college students, minorities, and students living in rural and small-town areas.  To qualify, students must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher, excel on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 standardized tests, and/or score a three or higher on two or more Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

    Oftentimes, the national recognition from the College Board increases student access to colleges and universities as many institutions take the College Board honors into consideration when reviewing student applications for admission.

    “We are very proud of our students who were recognized by the College Board for their outstanding test scores on the PSAT and AP exams, as well as for the great work they do in the classroom every day,” said Mathieu Chapman, a school counselor at Highland School of Technology.  “The College Board National Recognition Program provides students with more exposure to college and scholarship resources, and it is an honor they can add to their college and scholarship applications.”

    The College Board is a not-for-profit organization that helps more than seven million students each year with navigating a path from high school to college and careers.  Perhaps it is best known for administering AP exams and the SAT as well as other academic programs and resources that support college-bound students.
